A Quibble on Quidd

Sometimes I go onto HaveIBeenPwned.com and I check if there have been any new major data breaches since I'd last checked. One breach that I should have had nothing to do with was the company Quidd. I'm sure none of you remember the application/website, but it was for trading stickers. It was like a cooler NFT back in 2019 that you could send to people as, you know, a sticker. Well, I was young at the time and signed up for literally any application I saw. That included Quidd, unfortunately. Because of me not fully understanding the problems with giving out all of your information, it's likely that my E-Mail, password, and username are in that database. At that time, I also believe I was using my name as a username, so that's even worse.

We can't trust companies to keep our data safe.

There are multiple data breaches every single day, sometimes huge datasets containing a significant amount of private information. Luckily, in the case of Quidd, it was just E-Mails and passwords that were important. In the case of the recent Trump Mobile data breach, though, there were many people who were outright doxxed because of the information they trusted them with, expecting they would receive a phone. Guess what. They still haven't received their phones they paid them $100USD for several months ago.

In all, please don't go around signing up for every single website. If you do, there is a high likelihood that your information will be forcefully shared without your knowledge. If there is a site you need to use but don't fully trust, just make a new E-Mail or use a temporary one.
